Your phone speaks dog.
Tap a bark. Your dog answers. Your phone barks back. Film the chaos. Share it.
Go on. If your dog is in the room, watch what happens.
How it works
Three steps to chaos
The whole loop takes about a minute, and the best clip is usually the first one.
Tap Bark!
Ten real dog barks: doorbell panic, stranger alert, squirrel hysteria. Your phone does the talking.
Film the reaction
Hit record and point at your dog. Bark again mid-take, because one is never enough.
Share the chaos
One tap to send the clip anywhere. Your dog is about to be famous in the group chat.
Conversation Mode
Your dog barks. Barkin barks back.
Start a session and your phone listens. Every time your dog answers, it barks back and writes out both sides as it happens. Most sessions end with a card worth posting.
The microphone is live only during a session, and nothing is recorded.

Posh Butler, Drama Queen, Gym Bro, Conspiracy Theorist. Same dog, entirely different personality.

The dog who started it
Franki
He came from a litter at my cousin's place, a bundle of fur who never walked anywhere he could jump instead. Visitors were his favourite thing in the world. The doorbell went, and so did he.
Barkin exists because of him. Every bark in the app is the kind of noise that would have set him off, and every mood card is the sort of thing he was very obviously thinking.
The dogs you see in the screenshots are stand-ins. Franki was the original.

Questions
Before you press the button
What is Barkin?
Barkin is a free Android app that plays real dog barks so your dog reacts. Film the reaction and share it, get a mood reading of your dog's reply, check the daily dog horoscope, or switch on Conversation Mode and your phone listens and barks back. It is entertainment, so keep the volume reasonable and give your dog breaks.
Is this safe for my dog?
It is a sound, at a volume you control. Play at a reasonable level and give your dog breaks. Some dogs find it thrilling and some find it boring. If yours seems stressed rather than curious, stop. Barkin is for entertainment, not training.
Does it work on any breed?
Any dog that can hear a bark. Reactions vary far more by personality than by breed, and puppies tend to be the most theatrical.
Does it really translate my dog?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Barkin reads volume, pitch and rhythm to pick a mood, then writes a line to match. It is a party trick with good comic timing, not science.
What do I get without paying?
All ten barks, filming and sharing, the daily horoscope, one dog profile, one translation and one Conversation Mode session. The bark button itself never costs anything.
Does it need the internet?
Only for Bark Pro. Your clips, photos and recordings never leave your phone unless you share them. The app goes online to check whether your purchase is still active and to process purchases through Google Play.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Android came first. Leave your email below and you will hear the day that changes.
